In what comes as a quick, sarcastic response to US President Donald Trump's comments, teen climate activist Greta Thunberg updated her Twitter bio on Tuesday to 'A very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future'.
Swedish climate activist Thunberg, 16, addressed the United Nations General Assembly at the Climate Action Summit in New York City on Monday, accusing world leaders of failing to tackle greenhouse gas emissions, asking with visible fury, "How dare you?". Thunberg said, “This is all wrong. I shouldn't be up here. I should be back at school on the other side of the ocean.” She added, "You come to us young people for hope. How dare you?"
"You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words, yet I'm one of the lucky ones. People are suffering, people are dying, entire ecosystems are collapsing,” she added.
Tweeting a video of the impassioned speech, Trump tweeted a sarcastic comment: “She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!” Trump's insensitive comment soon faced social media ire, and Thunberg's changed Twitter bio is a direct clap back at this statement.
Meanwhile, a video clip of Thunberg giving Trump the 'death stare' as he entered the climate summit, is going viral.
