The Kerala government has prepared the action plan for the demolition of four flats at Maradu in Ernakulam district, ordered to be demolished by the Supreme Court for violating the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) rules.
Billed as the biggest demolition drive in the history of the state, the demolition process will begin on September 28 and will be completed
on February 9, 2020. The government will submit the 138-day-long demolition plan in the Supreme Court on Friday.
Action plan
- September 28
Municipality will issue evacuation notice to the residents of the four flats—Golden Kayaloram, H20 Holy Fatih, Jain Coral Cove and Alpha Serene—ordered to be demolished.
- September 29
Evacuation of flat dwellers and people residing nearby areas to begin. There are 9,522 buildings situated within 1km radius of the four illegal flats.
Disconnection of water, electricity and phone lines to all four flats to be completed. Special security arrangements for police, fire force and oil companies to be introduced.
Storage facility to keep the ammunition for demolition will be set up.
