The Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday expressed concerns over the safety of the Indian contingent to the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup, starting in England and Wales on May 30.
According to various reports, the issue of whether India will play Pakistan — currently scheduled on June 16 — will be brought up in the International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting in Dubai at the end of this month.
India has severed all bilateral cricketing ties with Pakistan since 2008.
The Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) urged both the England Cricket Board (ECB) and the ICC to provide security to Indian players, match officials, and the fans. It also called for action against countries supporting terrorism.
Most ICC members have condemned the terror attack, said the CoA, adding: “The cricketing community… (should) sever ties with countries from which terrorism emanates.”
