Karan Johar’s historical drama, Takht, will unarguably be his most ambitious directorial project ever. Having a dream star cast comprising Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Janhvi Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Anil Kapoor, Takht is expected to hit the floors in the mid of 2019 and hence, the actors have started preparing for their respective roles.
Since the film is set in the Mughal era, the actors will be seen donning avatars that will be far cry from their everyday appearances. If a report on Bollywood Hungama is anything to go by, Anil Kapoor, who will be seen playing Mughal Emperor Shah Jahah, will start working towards gaining weight. The senior actor leads a healthy lifestyle and works hard to stay slim. However, early next year, he will be on a different diet so as to put on those extra kilos.
Takht, it has been reported, will present the story of two warring brothers Aurangzeb and Dara Shikoh. While Aurangzeb will reportedly be played by Vicky Kaushal, Ranveer Singh will supposedly play Dara Shikoh. Kareena Kapoor Khan, we hear, is going to essay the role of Jahanara Begum. (After Takht, Janhvi Kapoor will possibly star in another Karan Johar film)
Takht, which will mark Karan Johar’s comeback to direction after more than six years, has screenplay written by Sumit Roy. The dialogues have been penned by Hussain Haidry and Sumit Roy. The epic period drama is slated to hit the screens in 2020.
