Amritsar bomb blast case: Punjab CM says some leads found

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday visited the site where a grenade blast on Sunday claimed three lives. Talking to the media, the Punjab CM said that the investigating agencies have got "some leads" and would catch the attackers soon. Singh further called the attack “a clear case of terrorism”. 

Chandigarh: A day after three people were killed and 20 others injured in a grenade attack on a Nirankari congregation in Rajasansi area in Punjab's Amritsar district, state Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Monday announced a reward of Rs 50 lakh for anybody providing information on those involved in the attack.
Those who have any information on the suspects can dial 181 - the Punjab Police helpline. Officials have assured that the identity of the informer will be kept a secret. The deceased included a preacher. The Punjab Police are treating the incident as a “terrorist act”.

Amritsar bomb blast: Key developments

The Punjab Police have released the sketch of the suspects. Meanwhile, a National Investigation Agency (NIA) three-member team visited the blast site for a second time today, after their initial inspection of the area on Sunday. The team is headed by an Inspector General. Explosive experts had accompanied the team.

  1. As per the exclusive details accessed by Times Now, HE-36 series grenade was used by the attackers on Sunday. Notably, HE-36 grenade is a part of the arsenal normally used by the Pakistani Army. It is a hand grenade that creates smoke and a bang on an explosion, causing fear and panic.


  1. The Punjab Police have released an exclusive CCTV footage of the assailants. The Pulsar bike used for the attack has also been identified. 

  2. Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh visited Amritsar today, 24 hours after the attack. "An investigation is going on. There are some leads which our police is following up. I am hopeful that we will soon catch the culprits. All those injured are out of danger. This is a clear case of terrorism and we'll deal with it," said Singh.  

  3. A high-level security meeting, chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, took place in Delhi today.

Two-motorcycle borne men lobbed a grenade inside the Nirankari Bhawan's prayer hall at Adliwal village near Amritsar's Rajasansi at the time when a religious congregation of the Nirankari followers was being conducted.  The Sant Nirankari Mission, located near Guru Ram Das Jee Amritsar international airport, is a spiritual organisation.
